Single Missing Teeth
Dental implants are the most natural-looking tooth replacement option and can improve the form and function of your smile. This treatment is aimed to look, feel and function just like a natural tooth.
The dental implant replaces the function of the tooth root and transmits the chewing force from the tooth crown to the jaw bone. This natural force keeps the jaw bone vital so that it does not recede. The titanium implant fuses to living bone, resulting in teeth that feel and look completely natural.
Course of treatment
Example: The course of treatment described below is one of several options available. We will advise you on the best solution for you depending on your individual situation.
First appointment: A medical and dental examination is performed including diagnostic radiographs,to determine if a dental implant is the best solution for you. A treatment plan is discussed with you including all your options and associated fees.
Second appointment: Placing the implants. The position of your implant is pre-planned using our NobelClinician software which allows us to plan with pinpoint accuracy.
The procedure then begins with the dental implant specialist uncovering the gum to insert the titanium implant under the jaw bone. A local anaesthetic is given or, if preferred, an intravenous sedation or general anaesthetic.
Third appointment: Once the implants have successfully integrated with the bone, impressions are taken of the implant position to make the final crown.
Fourth appointment: The final step is the attachment of the final crown.
Caring for the implant crown involves good oral hygiene, including home care and regular dental check-ups.
Having an implant put in is a permanent solution to the problem of a missing tooth. The treatment and associated charges depends on differing factors and can vary from person-to-person. We use the highest quality materials and equipment, but endeavour to keep procedures affordable for our patients.
Multiple Missing Teeth
Segments of missing teeth should be replaced quickly in order to prevent bone loss and further movement of the remaining teeth.
A fixed implant supported bridge is a permanent solution to replace several missing teeth. Fixed bridge implants do not require the support of, or grinding of adjacent teeth. Replacement teeth are permanently anchored to dental implants offering improved stability and function compared with traditional dentures and bridgework.
Implant supported replacement teeth are fixed so they won’t move or slip when you smile. They look, feel and function just like natural teeth.
The course of treatment for a segment of missing teeth is very similar to replacing a single tooth.
Greenvale Dentistry recognises that dental implants may not be suitable for every patient. We also offer the following alternative tooth replacement solutions: removable partial dentures and tooth-supported fixed bridges..
